Hamilton College fun day raises funds for aid trip

Youngsters enjoying the annual fun day at Hamilton College

THE Friends of Hamilton College held their annual summer fun day on Saturday, June 7, in the school grounds.

The sun brought out a huge crowd as visitors enjoyed football and soft toy tombolas, bric-a-brac, toys and bookstalls.

The younger children enjoyed the bouncy castle, face painting, nail bar and “Have a go” crafts.

For the older children the inflated sumo wrestlers raised a laugh while “beat the goalie”, with members of Hamilton Accies, kept even the most energetic occupied.

Afternoon teas, home-baking and chocolate and fruit juice fountains provided a welcome break from all the fun, while a barbecue outside catered for those still queuing for activities.

A car-washing service appealed to many who had parked in the school grounds.

As a group of the college’s senior students are involved in an aid trip to Burkina Faso in a few weeks, the proceeds from the barbecue and the handmade jewellery stall were helping to boost their trip fund.

The fun day raised £5300.
