Accies gift puts icing on the cake

HAMILTON Accies manager Billy Reid, captain Alex Neil and a clutch of title-winning first-team stars presented a giant celebration cake to pupils from Craighead School, after the Hamilton Advertiser linked up with Greggs the bakers.

The cake, which was made by Greggs, was gifted to the club to celebrate winning the Irn-Bru First Division title, and they decided to give it to the Craighead pupils.

Ashley Alexander (centre), and schoolmates Luke O’Farrell, Freddy Haliday, Scott Nelson and Grant Rennie got to grips with the famous old trophy, as well as getting to meet their heroes - from left, James McCarthy, Mark McLaughlin, captain Alex Neil, boss Billy Reid and Tony Stevenson.
