A FIRE in Wishaw last Wednesday brought traffic to a standstill.
The blaze broke out at an industrial estate in Heathery Road.
The fire service found a pile of tyres alight when they were called to the incident on Wednesday afternoon.
They also found a number of gas cannisters at the site.
A 200-metre safety zone was put in place and the roads closed included Glasgow Road, Main Street, Netherton Road at Wishaw General Hospital and Heathery Road.
Motorists attempting to travel through Wishaw’s centre were delayed for up to an hour while police diverted traffic.
Surrounding roads remained closed for most of Thursday while firefighters waited for the gas cannisters to cool down.
Wishaw railway station was also closed during the incident.
