Speedy arrest for dangerous driver

A PENSIONER was this week arrested for driving dangerously in Newarthill.

Traffic police were carrying out checks on High Street following complaints from residents about speeding in the area, when the alleged incident took place.

At about 8.40pm on April 19 officers observed a car said to be travelling at 62mph within a 30mph zone. A 76-year-old man from Wishaw is now the subject of a report to the fiscal for dangerous driving.

Police from the Newarthill community team will be continuing their speeding patrols, in an effort to nab offenders and protect people in the town from speeding motorists.
