SOUTH Lanarkshire Council is set to undertake resurfacing works and safety improvement works on the A71 Darvel Road between Caldermill Farm and Hallburn Farm.
Use of the road by all vehicles will be prohibited from 7pm on Friday, April 24, April until 6am on Monday, April 27, and also from 7pm on Friday, May 8, until 6am on Monday, May 11.
Access will be maintained for pedestrians, emergency vehicles and works vehicles.
Alternative routes will be clearly signed.
Westbound: traffic should continue northwest to East Kilbride on the A726, west on the A726 Glasgow Southern Orbital to junction A77, south on the A77 and A719 to Galston, then continue East on the A71 through Darvel to the east side of the closure.
Eastbound: traffic should continue vice versa.
It is inevitable that there will be some delay to journeys during the time this work is taking place.
The council is asking drivers to be patient and co-operative while these necessary works which will benefit all motorists using the busy road are carried out.
