Bogus caller cons pensioner

A PENSIONER was conned out a three-figure sum of money by a man in Motherwell.

The incident took place at about 2pm on April 14 when an 89-year-old man was inside his house in Wilson Street.

A workman attended at the house and offered to repair the man’s garage door. Both men agreed a three-figure sum which the elderly man paid up front.

The workman then looked at the garage for a few moments before entering a van and driving off, never to return.

He is described as 5ft 8in, stocky build with dark brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and was neatly dressed.

The man drove off in a white van with brown coloured writing on the side.

A WATCH and a black iPod Touch was stolen from a house in Mission Gardens, Wishaw, between 12.30pm-6.30pm on April 18.

Three youths were seen in the garden at the time of the theft.

EIGHTEEN cast iron gully drain covers were stolen from Rowantree Avenue, Newhouse, between 8am on April 21 and 9am the following day.

The covers are valued at a four-figure sum of money.

ELECTRICAL equipment was stolen from a house in Combe Quadrant, Bellshill, between 9pm on April 26 and 3.20am the following day.

A PlayStation 3, an Apple iPhone, an Acer Aspire Laptop, a Maxim Mix Digital Video Camera and an Olympus U840 digital camera were stolen.

A VANDAL set fire to a JCB forklift at a construction site on Liberty Road, Bellshill, at about 8.30pm on April 26.

The suspect was male, and was wearing a black hooded top and black trousers .

A MAN was attacked outside the Post Office on Bellshill’s Main Street, on April 26, just after midnight.

The 22-year-old man and his friend had just left the Courtyard Pub when the attack took place.

The victim was approached by the suspect who punched him on the face which caused him to fall.

The thug later jumped on his head which caused the victim to lose consciousness.

The victim was taken to Monklands Hospital, and he was later released after treatment. He suffered a cut to his face and head.

The suspect is described as male, aged between 23 -24 years old, with short dark brown hair.

He was also wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
