Thieves fined

TWO men who stole copper piping from the former Earnock High School building have been fined.

Mark Boyle (34) and James Sweeney (38) admitted carrying out the theft in the Wellhall Road building on February 14. Sweeney also admitted possessing two pairs of scissors in Wellhall Road on the same day.

Boyle’s not guilty plea to possessing cannabis resin at Hamilton Police Office was accepted by the Crown.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, Sheriff Vincent Smith fined Sweeney, of Mallaig Road, Drumoyne, Glasgow, £450 and Boyle, of Drygrange Road, Craigend, Glasgow, £300.
