Trial date set for pub attack accused

A HAMILTON man has denied assaulting a woman in a Strathaven pub.

Kenneth Gray (27), of Marquis Avenue, is accused of punching Heather McNeil at the Star Inn, Waterside Street, on February 4 last year.

Gray is also alleged to have committed a breach of the peace at the pub by shouting and swearing at members of staff and the public before hitting Ms McNeil on the head.

At the time of the alleged incident, Ms McNeil was an employee of the Star Inn.

Gray also denied repeatedly punching Colin Dalgarno on the head on the same day in Strathaven's Common Green.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Sheriff Frank Pieri set Gray's trial for a date next month and granted him bail.
