TWO Lanarkshire men have denied assaulting another man in the car park of Bothwell Castle.
Richard Smith (23), of Norwood Terrace, Uddingston, and James Gormley (21), of Priory Street, Blantyre, allegedly assaulted Alan Mooney at the Historic Scotland site last Saturday.
Gormley is said to have attempted to punch Mr Mooney on the head and body before striking him on the arm with a piece of wood.
Smith is said to have tried to punch Mr Mooney on his head and body.
The pair have also been accused of committing a breach of the peace at the car park by shouting and swearing.
Smith is further alleged to have failed to provide a breath sample when stopped by police on Bellshill Road, Uddingston, and again at Hamilton Police Office in Campbell Street.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, Sheriff Shiona Waldron set the trial for both men for September and granted both bail.
