Police hand out safety advice to shoppers

POLICE in Bellshill were on hand to offer shoppers at the Morrison’s store in Bellshill some safety advice.

Officers from the town are continuing to carry out high-visibility patrols in the Bellshill and district area in conjunction with the Safer Scotland Campaign to provide a deterrent to would-be criminals and reassure communities.

The campaign is currently in the phase in which officers and partner agencies focus on areas which present concern to the people within local communities.

The next phase of the Safer Scotland campaign aims to target acts of antisocial behaviour taking place in the local area and will be launched very soon.

Chief Inspector Derek Brown, who is based at Bellshill Police Office, pledged to maintain the good work that is currently underway in the Bellshill and district area.

He said: “Officers patrolling the area have shown their commitment and diligence in assisting to make this area one of the safest places to live and work in.

“With the continuing help and consultation with people in the community, we will continue to provide an effective service to ensure that the Bellshill and district area continues to receive a high standard of policing.”
