Assault charge dropped

A BELLSHILL teenager charged with assaulting his mother was last week found not guilty after she decided she wanted the case dropped.

John Priestley (19), of Amethyst Avenue, had denied assaulting Elizabeth Priestley at Tollhouse Gardens on December 19, 2006.

It was alleged that he headbutted her, causing her to fall to the ground, before repeatedly stamping on her body and repeatedly punching her on the face.

The procurator fiscal explained that Elizabeth Priestley was no longer seeking a conviction against her son.

Sheriff John Miller therefore found Priestley not guilty.
