Man is cleared over door attack claim

A HAMILTON man accused of assaulting a woman by hitting her head against a door has been cleared.

Mark McQuade (31), of Quarry Street, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Cheryl Ann Whiteman at his address on May 10.

McQuade was said to have pushed her on the body, causing her to fall to the floor, before seizing her by the head and striking her head against a door. He also denied committing a breach of the peace at his flat by throwing items of furniture around.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, the procurator fiscal accepted his not guilty plea to both charges.
