Man, 27, faces charge of serious assault

A MAN has appeared in court charged with slashing his victim across the neck.

Ross Reynolds, of John Street, Hamilton, appeared on petition at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday charged with assaulting a 32-year-old man to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The 27-year-old made no plea or declaration, and was remanded in custody pending further police enquiries.

Reynolds is expected to make a second appearance in court on Monday.

Police enquiries began after a 32-year-old man was allegedly attacked in Hamilton’s Dixon Street on Sunday.

John McMillan was taken to Hairmyres Hospital with a neck injury.

He has since been released from hospital.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the incident.
