Accused found guilty of hitting woman on face

A VIEWPARK man has been convicted of repeatedly striking a woman on the face.

Joseph Fisher (46), of Sycamore Avenue, was found guilty of assaulting victim Margaret Hutton on January 24 at an address in Rosepark Avenue, Uddingston.

Fisher had pleaded not guilty to striking Ms Hutton repeatedly on the face with his hand and then pushing her to the ground.

He also denied committing a breach of the peace in relation to the same incident.

But, after evidence was led during a trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court, Sheriff Vincent Smith found Fisher guilty of the assault, but not guilty to the breach of the peace charge.

He asked for reports to be obtained on Fisher, and deferred sentence until later this month.

Fisher’s bail was continued meantime.
