Trial set on sword charge

A MOTHERWELL man has denied carrying a sword in a town street.

William McMillan (24), of Fife Drive, pleaded not guilty to possessing the weapon in Dalriada Crescent last Saturday, April 5.

It is alleged that he committed the offence while on bail on a separate matter.

The bail order was granted eight days earlier.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, Sheriff John Stewart set the trial for May.

McMillan was detained in custody meantime.
