Police raid High Blantyre home as part of investigation

POLICE raided a house in High Blantyre yesterday morning (Wednesday) as part of a continuing investigation.

Officers searched a house in Sutherland Street at around 10am.

Two uniformed policemen stood at the front of the property following the raid.

The back door of the house appeared to be falling off its hinges, with a police battering ram lying beside it against the wall.

A police spokeswoman confirmed: “A search was carried out in Blantyre yesterday morning as part of an ongoing investigation. No arrests were made.”

Worried residents in Sutherland Street refused to comment on the police operation.

It is unclear whether the search has anything to do with the continued police investigation into the murder of Brian McQueen.

McQueen, of Springwell Crescent, Blantyre, was attacked in Hardie Street around 10pm on February 13 as he walked home from his girlfriend’s house.

Four men jumped out of a car and stabbed the 37-year-old several times.

Last week Detective Chief Inspector Alan Welsh, who is leading the investigation, said police enquiries are now focussed on finding a black Ford Focus hatchback car with the registration YT03 VZS.

It is believed that this car was in the area around the time that Mr McQueen was attacked.
