Pedestrians hurt in road accidents

Two pedestrians were taken to hospital after separate road collisions over the weekend.

A 59-year-old man was struck while crossing a road in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, at around 6pm on Friday night.

He was crossing Quarrelton Road at its junction with Beith Road when he was struck by a Vauxhall Insignia car.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital where was treated for a head injury.

The driver of the car was uninjured but badly shaken by the incident.

A woman in her 80s was also taken to hospital the following day in an unconnected collision in Falkirk.

She was hit in Main Street, Camelon, at around 7.15pm on Saturday night, and taken to Forth Valley Royal hospital for treatment.

The area around Main Street was closed between the A9 and A803 for over four hours and diversions were put in place.

Local forces are appealing for witnesses to both incidents.
