Police are treating the death of an elderly woman found in her home as suspicious.
The body of 80-year-old Janet Methven was found by a family member in her home in Forteviot, Perth, at around 5.15pm on Monday.
Tayside Police said a forensic examination of the rural Perthshire address is under way.
Officers are also conducting door-to-door inquiries in the surrounding area.
Detective Chief Inspector Colin Gall, of Tayside Police, said: "The circumstances are being treated as suspicious at this time and we would ask the public to support our ongoing inquiries by getting in touch with us if they have any information whatsoever that could assist us.
"We would appeal to anyone who has been in the Forteviot area in recent days, particularly drivers who regularly use the route through there, to contact us as they may have information that could prove valuable to us.
"I would also ask local residents to think hard as to whether they have seen anything suspicious at all in the area in recent days, whether a person or a vehicle. Again, it could prove to be of great assistance to our investigation."
