Double jeopardy law to be reformed
Plans to reform the double jeopardy law have been announced by Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill.
The law, which prevents a person being tried twice for the same crime, was introduced more than 800 years ago.
Now the Scottish Government is to hold a consultation on whether or not to permit retrials if new evidence comes to light.
