Efforts to cut class size 'fails'

Efforts to cut class sizes for the youngest schoolchildren have "not gone far enough", Education Secretary Mike Russell said.

Progress was being made towards reducing the number of youngsters in all classes, he said.

But the SNP has so far failed to meet its pledge to cut class sizes to 18 in primaries one to three.
