Police apology over stab deaths

A senior police officer apologised for his force's treatment of a mother whose two children had been stabbed to death.

Strathclyde Police Assistant Chief Constable George Hamilton said Giselle Ross, whose sons were murdered by their father in East Dunbartonshire in 2008, was not shown adequate compassion by officers and "deserved better".

Mr Hamilton said a review of the force's handling of the case carried out by Central Scotland Police had found that the investigation was carried out thoroughly.
