Winter vomit bug shuts nine wards

Nine wards at a hospital in Greenock have stopped admitting patients because of an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

Health officials said 37 patients in Inverclyde Royal Hospital have symptoms of the norovirus infection.

Four medical wards and one in which surgery is carried out have been closed to new patients, as have three rehabilitation wards and one treating older people with poor mental health.
