Kinnock honoured by university

Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock has spoken of the "great thrill" of being honoured by a university.

Lord Kinnock, 67, was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters by Glasgow Caledonian University for his "outstanding contribution to politics and the promotion of international understanding".

He was leader of the Opposition between 1983 and 1992 and was UK Commissioner of the European Commission from 1995 until 2004. He also chaired the British Council.
