A bank chief is due to be grilled by MSPs as part of a Holyrood probe into the banking sector.
Royal Bank of Scotland group chief executive Stephen Hester will face MSPs at Holyrood after it emerged that Scotland's two banking giants, RBS and HBOS, were last year lent £61 billion in a "dire emergency" at the height of the banking crisis.
The money was lent by the Bank of England weeks after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the Treasury Select Committee heard.
