Green party protects surfing

Surfing hotspots could win legal protection under Green Party plans to further protect Scottish waters.

New "reserves" would be created in popular coastal areas, such as Thurso, Lewis and Tiree, if ministers agree to amend the draft Marine Bill at Holyrood.

Green MSP Robin Harper said: "Many important surf spots around the world are currently under threat from inappropriate developments, restricted access and poor water quality.
