Holyrood debates rural schools Bill

Legislation to protect rural schools is due to face its final parliamentary hurdle.

MSPs will be urged to back the Scottish Government's Schools (Consultation) Bill, which the Holyrood's Education Committee has supported.

Education Secretary Fiona Hyslop has said that regulations on school closures, which date to 1981, belong to "a very different era".
