Councillor wage freeze proposed

Councillors in Scotland should have their pay frozen for the next two years because of increased budget pressures, a report has recommended.

If accepted, council leaders will have their salaries frozen at regional levels between £27,058 and £48,704. Most councillors' salaries will remain at £16,234.

The recommendations are among 15 made to the Scottish Government by the Scottish Local Authorities Remuneration Committee.
