Engineers to assess landslip threat

Engineers are to assess a large crack in a cliff face above a coastal village amid warnings that residents may have to be evacuated.

Aberdeenshire Council has been monitoring the 25 metre crack at Pennan to assess the landslide risk following heavy rain.

Residents of the village, which featured in the film Local Hero, were warned they may have to evacuate if the situation worsened, and were advised to pack an overnight bag.
