Commercial disputes bill passed

New laws which offer an alternative to court for commercial disputes were agreed by MSPs.

Politicians said they hope the measures in the Arbitration (Scotland) Bill will attract international business and simplify this area of law.

Arbitration is a legal procedure in which a third party, often a specialist, acts as a private tribunal. Final decisions are binding without the need for further court hearings.
