A new laboratory which provides a groundbreaking transplant treatment to help people with Type 1 diabetes is being launched.
The Scottish Islet Isolation Laboratory is the only one in the UK which will operate 24 hours a day offering a new cell transplant treatment.
The Islet Transplant Programme extracts islets - or cells which produce insulin - from a donated pancreas and inject them into the liver of someone with Type 1 diabetes and those who have received a kidney transplant.
