More than three quarters of a million households in Scotland will face fuel poverty this winter as they struggle to heat homes during the recession, a charity has warned.
A total of 810,000 households in Scotland, or 35% of properties, will have to spend more than 10% of the home's income on heating this year, according to the research by National Energy Action (NEA).
In 2001 310,000 - or 13% of households - were in fuel poverty in Scotland, according to the figures.
