Prostate cancer 'frozen out'

Doctors in Scotland are giving tumours frostbite to fight prostate cancer, they have revealed.

During the procedure, called cryotherapy, the tumours are frozen then thawed, with the cancer cells being shattered and killed as a result.

The treatment is only available to men whose prostrate cancer has recurred despite previous radiotherapy and have inoperable tumours, or where surgery would be very risky.
