Crime writer sponsors stand

Crime writer Val McDermid marked her favourite football team's promotion by sponsoring one of the stands at their ground.

The best-selling author has struck a deal with Raith Rovers - whose best-known supporter is Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

A stand at their Starks Park ground in Kirkcaldy is to be called the McDermid Stand and was formally being inaugurated at today's first home match of the season against Dundee.
