Government slammed over advert cost

The SNP Government was criticised over the cost of an advert promoting Scotland for the Homecoming celebrations.

First Minister Alex Salmond launched the advert last year, which features a host of famous Scots including: actor Sir Sean Connery, Olympic triple-gold medallist Chris Hoy, singers Lulu and Sandi Thom and actor Brian Cox, with each of the celebrities singing a line from from Dougie MacLean`s song Caledonia.

Now Tourism Minister Jim Mather disclosed that the advert was £233,450, which included the cost of filming and production, whilst transmission costs were £299,287.
