10% slump in manufacturing exports

Scotland's manufactured exports have plunged by nearly 10% in the last three months of 2008.

The fall of 9.6% meant export sales for the year as a whole fell by 2.8%.

No industry was immune from the plunge and the biggest decline was in the food, drink and tobacco sector, which fell by more than 20%.
