Report criticises prison conditions

The conditions faced in custody by young female offenders have been criticised in an official inspection report.

The report calls for the creation of a unit solely for young women.

The current set-up sees young people largely forced to share with adults in half of one hall in Cornton Vale - the country's only women's prison - and two or three others.
