RBS makes £1.7bn mortgage move

The Royal Bank of Scotland is to make £1.7 billion-worth of mortgages available to Scottish homebuyers this year.

The lending package has been made available following a raft of Government support measures, the bank said.

It includes £500 million released through the Treasury's Asset Protection Scheme, aimed at bringing financial stability to Britain's banks during the global downturn.
