MSPs hear of prison compensation

MSPs are due to be updated on latest developments in a wrangle over compensation that has already cost the prison service millions of pounds.

Justice secretary Kenny MacAskill will appear before MSPs to make a statement on compensation to prisoners.

His Holyrood appearance was arranged at short notice and the Scottish Government declined to give any details in advance.
