170 police 'have criminal record'

At least 170 serving police officers in Scotland have criminal records, it has been revealed.

Figures obtained by the Liberal Democrats show the convictions include assault, perverting the course of justice and drink-driving.

The number could be higher because Northern Constabulary and Central Scotland Police did not release details under the freedom of information requests, which were made late last year.
