Citroen provides more for less
TWO NEW engines are set to provide a best-of-both-worlds boost in power and economy for the Citroen C5.
Despite boasting higher output and better economy, they will also give the hatchback and estate range significant reductions in tailpipe emissions to qualify for lower road tax charges.
A 1.6-litre petrol motor developed jointly between the French firm and BMW has replaced the previous two-litre unit. Developing 155bhp, it is mated with a six-speed gearbox and delivers eight per cent more power.
Average running economy is 39.8mpg - up by 18.5 per cent - and exhaust emissions of 167g/km show an improvement of 16 per cent.
The latest two-litre turbodiesel engine develops 20bhp more than the outgoing two-litre unit and also takes the place of the 2.2-litre motor. It has an output of 160bhp - 14 per cent up on the old two-litre engine, 50.4mpg economy and emissions of 147g/km.
Introduced to coincide with the power unit changes is a new integrated Bluetooth system with a USB Box as standard on Exclusive versions.
