X Factor winner Joe McEldery to top bill this summer at Hamilton Park

X FACTOR winner Joe McElderry is set to top the bill at Hamilton Park this summer, the Advertiser can reveal.

Singing sensation Joe – who shot to fame after winning the X Factor sixth series in 2009 – will wow the crowds after the racing at Hamilton Park on Saturday, July 9.

The 19-year-old, from South Shields, who had a number one hit with his version of Miley Cyrus’s The Climb, is one of a superb line-up of acts for the racecourse’s Family Night with Stars from X Factor.

Joe will be showcasing material from his new album, entitled Wide Awake.

Mentored by fellow Geordie Cheryl Cole on X Factor, he made it through to the live finals and was declared the winner on December 13, 2009, beating runner-up Olly Murs.

Along with the X Factor finalists, Joe recorded charity single, a cover of Michael Jackson's hit You Are Not Alone. It was released in aid of London's Great Ormond Street Hospital and reached number one.

Fans on Facebook say they can’t wait to get their hands on the tickets for the concert.

The Advertiser understands Hamilton Park will hold two stand-alone concerts this year and are in negotiation with two top acts.

This follows the huge sucess of JLS last July who attracted 13,000 people with the first ever stand-alone concert at the racecourse.

Joe will follow a long list of top acts who have performed at the racecourse, including Dannii Minogue, Alesha Dixon, The Saturdays, Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon, Jason Donovan Diana Vickers, Liberty X and Pixie Lott.
