BLANTYRE/East Kilbride band The Revolt are our Band of the Week. The guys also win a rehearsal slot at the fantastic Gargleblast studios in Burnbank.
Our Thoughts: We are big fans of The Revolt – they have very sixties feel which we love. These guys have embodied quite a mature sound for a band so young. The delicate and beautiful ‘Where We Were’ must be listened to, as well as the energetic and infectious ‘Heartless’ which can be bought on iTunes.
Background: The Revolt are a four-piece rock‘n’roll band who write and perform our own material. We have a passion for rock music from the 60s and 70s and try to put our own modern twists and ideas into classic rock.
How they met: We met at a songwriting course run by South Lanarkshire Council. We shared a love for rock and roll music and became friends immediately. After the course was finished, Vince, our bassist joined and we formed The Revolt.
Members: Shared vocals/ rhythm guitar - Lewis Archibald, 16; vocals/lead guitar - Michael McGovern, 15; drums, spoons, triangle - Callum Little, 15; bass - Vincent Hynes, 14.
Best Gig: 02 Academy, Glasgow. It was our first time performing some new material so we were pretty nervous but there was a really big crowd there and our fans went mental. We had an amazing time and it’s a gig we’ll never forget.
Future plans: EP Recording at ‘The Green Door’ in Glasgow’s West End in late November. Hopefully after that an EP launch gig in Glasgow in December.
Influences: The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, The Clash.
