Jeye T prepares debut album

MOTHERWELL singer-songwriter Jeye T thrilled the crowds who packed in to King Tut’s in Glasgow.

The Forgewood man – real name John Tierney – has been gathering fans in high places with his mix of Britpop and grunge, with music mogul and former Oasis boss Alan McGee singing his praises.

After appealing to the local press earlier this year, Jeye T has managed to put together his line-up and played his third performance at the legendary Glasgow venue.

He said: “It feels good to be here. Oasis, Glasvegas, Kasabian, Paulo Nutini and a lot of other great acts have played here.

“This is my third time playing here and every time it just gets better. I always enjoy playing to my home crowd, especially at Tut’s.”

Last year, Alan McGee tipped Jeye-T to be the next big thing in Scotland, drawing comparisons to Glasvegas.

Jeye T said: “Talking to Alan McGee, he reckons we aren’t at the stage yet where we can be selling our songs. I’m not in this for the money - to me it’s all about the rock ‘n’ roll. What I love most is when people spread our music and let the world hear it.”

Last month, the former Our Lady’s High pupil supported American indie-rocker Jeff Klein at the prestigious King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut along with his new band which includes Wishaw man John Canavan on guitar, Viewpark bass player Mark Kennedy and Bathgate drummer Rob McCrombie.

Jeye-T and band blasted through tunes from his EP Logical Fallacy.

After the gig, he said: “We’re building up a good fan base and will, hopefully, do a UK tour later this year.

“We’ve got the new record Hysteria coming out and we’re thinking about sticking it on iTunes.”

Jeye T’s EP, Logical Fallacy, which featured ex-Oasis strummer Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, has been downloaded thousands of times all over the world. For more information on him visit www.myspace.com/tierneyjohn and go to www.jeyet.fanbridge.com to download the EP, for free.
