Dancers raise money for Help for Heroes charity.

THE Kennedy Cupcakes – the fabulous dance troupe based in Bellshill who recall the forties and fifties era – are getting set to celebrate their first birthday by hosting a 1940s-themed bash in aid of Help for Heroes charity.

The event is taking place on Friday, April 23, at the Alona Hotel, Strathclyde Park.

Guests can look forward to a wonderful evening of entertainment in the new banqueting suite with That Swing Sensation, The Kennedy Cupcakes and other fantastic acts which will be taking to the stage.

Everyone is being encouraged to dress in 1940s gear to ensure the night has an authentic feel.

Lisa said: “The Kennedy Cupcakes hope to raise money for what we feel is such a worthy cause.”

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.

The message of the charity is simple: “We are strictly non-political and non- critical, we simply want to help.

“We believe that anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero.

“These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of their service for life. We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.”

Tickets cost £10 from Lisa Kennedy on 07944 367 328 or www.thekennedycupcakes@yahoo.co.uk.
