Heavy metal group Bleed From Within to release second album

HAMILTON-based heavy metal band Bleed From Within are set to release their second album next month.

Empire, the follow-up to their acclaimed debut Humanity, will be out on May 10.

The popular five-piece recorded the album over a three-week period at Essex-based Rising Records studios in December last year.

And the group have also just finished filming their second music video for a track on the new record, ‘The Healing’.

The new album will be officially launched on April 24 at Glasgow venue the Classic Grand.

The band are David Lennon (21) on guitar, David Provan (22) on bass and drummer Ali Richardson (20), all from Hamilton. Alongside them are 21-year-old singer Scott Kennedy, of Larkhall, and Craig Gowans (21), from Stonehouse, on guitar.

This week, Craig told the Advertiser that the new album will see the band find their sound.

He explained: “We were working over Christmas and New Year on the album and then we went straight into recording the new music video.

“Now we’re gearing up for the album launch night in Glasgow.

“The last album got us a lot of attention, not only in the UK, but across the world.

“It’s quite mental. I was never expecting it to go this well. But you have to take your chances when you get them.

“I’d say Empire is far more melodic and has a groovier sound than the first album.

“We have definitely matured as a band and the music reflects that. The first album was Bleed From Within finding our feet, now the second album is us finding our sound.”

The band – who formed at Hamilton’s Universal Connections in 2005 – have won critical praise and a multitude of fans following a successful spot at last year’s Download festival and an extensive tour of Britain.

Since then, the group’s last music video, for the single ‘Servants of Divinity’, has totalled over a quarter of a million views worldwide on popular video-sharing website YouTube.

Following the release of the new album, Bleed From Within will embark on a full European tour to promote the record, visiting countries such as France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Portugal, Poland, Holland and Spain.

They will also support Rising Records label-mates Trigger The Bloodshed on a month-long British tour later in the summer.

As well as playing a few European festivals, the band are also planning to tour Australia, having been offered a tour in the autumn.

“There is a massive underground metal scene in Britain,” said Craig.

“It’s definitely growing, but we’re getting attention from lots of different countries.

“The heavy metal fanbase is even bigger in places like Germany and other parts of mainland Europe, and we’re getting fans from there.

“Ten months ago, when we last spoke to the Advertiser, we hadn’t played Download yet and the album still wasn’t out, but a lot has changed in that time.

“I have no idea where we’ll be 10 months down the line now.

“I hope we’ll be touring, doing bigger support tours and gathering more fans and more attention, and really growing as a band. But touring is the most important thing.”

Tickets to the album launch night are available on Tickets Scotland, priced £6, or entry can be paid for at the door on the night.
