GBXperience set to rock the Mega Bar

GBXperience

CLYDE One DJ George Bowie talks to The Hamilton Advertiser about his forthcoming gig at Mega Bar on Friday May 15.

The Bowie at Breakfast star is set to bring his legendary GBXperience night to the Motherwell club for three weeks. And George is looking forward to getting back to Lanarkshire and playing in the Mega Bar, just weeks after his last set there.

The popular GBXperience has been hosted for the past year in a Glasgow club, but due to popular demand, George and his team have decided to take the show on the road. The show which is broadcast live on air, from 1am until 3am will feature classic dance anthems from the nineties to current dance tracks and mixes.

Talking about why the Mega Bar is a favourite venue of his, George says: “We have a massive listenership in Lanarkshire - the amount of calls and texts coming in from here is incredible and when we do gigs at the Mega Bar, they are always rammed.”

I’ve played there many times and it is always one of my favourite gigs – it is a cracking place and a really nice venue. There’s always an up-for-it crowd and it is always busy.”

Letting us in on what the crowd can expect on the night, George says: “It will probably be about 70 per cent old school - all of the big dance classics that everybody loves and about 30 per cent new stuff. You have to remember you are doing a live radio show too, so it is important to get that balance right.

Grateful for his army of fans, George adds: “It always takes me about half an hour to get from the dj box to the car because everyone wants a photo for their Bebo. People ask does that not cheese me off, and I’m like no I love it!”

The GB Christmas album, which was released in December 2008, proved to be a massive hit, selling 13,000 copies, going gold and reaching number three on HMV’S Dance Chart. And the DJ revealed that fans can look forward to volume two of the album which will be hitting the shelves in October.
