HAMILTON Town House staged a live ‘Back to the 80s’ concert at the weekend, where three live bands wowed an audience of over 100.
These concert-goers were accompanied by the three lucky winners of our recent competition - Marjie Byrne from Hamilton; Margaret McCreadie from Blantyre; and Yvonne Strachan from Hamilton - who each received a pair of tickets for the nostalgia-themed concert produced by XOXO.
Everyone enjoyed a medley of songs which include numbers from the 1980s by three live bands.
Recorded 80s music was played between band intervals.
The music kicked off just after 7.30pm with the first singer and acoustic guitarist Andy McConnell, followed by the band Empires who have played King Tut’s, Whistle Binkies and T in the Park.
They were followed by Local Tour Guide, who, among many other songs, sang their own bang-up-to-date version of the 80s classic by Bonnie Tyler ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’.
The gig was organised by five students from Glasgow Caledonia University as part of their Events Management course.
One of the students Kerrie Wynn is from Westcraigs.
She said: “Everything came together on the night.
“All three acts were fantastic and were well received by the crowd.
“We sold 120 tickets and the atmosphere was great.
“Everyone was pleased with the first event.”
