Bothwell beauty makes final of Miss Scotland

A BOTHWELL beauty has made it through to the final of Miss Scotland 2009.

Former Bothwell Primary School pupil Laura McGregor will now compete against nine other lovely ladies for the right to represent Scotland in the Miss World competition.

Thousands of girls entered the competition and Scotland’s top 10 were chosen by a public vote.

The 23-year-old radio programming assistant said: “The cut-off age for Miss Scotland is 24, so I really thought it was now or never.

“I am so glad that I decided to enter. The prizes look fantastic and it would be unbelievable to win the competition.

“I have no experience in modelling so the whole experience so far for me has been strange but great fun.”

The final takes place at Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium on May 14.

All 10 girls rehearsed for the big night last weekend when they gathered at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.

They practised a Bollywood routine they will have to perform in front of a panel of judges.

Laura added: “I am really looking forward to the final. It will be daunting but I do hope I can keep my nerves at bay and come across as confident.

“We have a Bollywood dance to do and we also have a round in which I have to wear a bikini, which I am slightly worried about because I have more curves than some of the other girls.

“The final round is where we wear an evening dress. I just hope that I won’t get too nervous and I get the opportunity to represent my country.”

The winner will receive a host of prizes, including £10,000, plus and chance to represent Scotland in the Miss World contest.
