The Rogues in dreamland after Battle of Bands win

DALZIEL High School’s Battle of the Bands competition, organised and produced by S4 pupil Christopher McIntyre, was an outstanding success.

The event, which was a sell-out, provided the momentum to showcase the musical talent in the school.

It was an ideal platform for the five bands taking part to hone their live performance skills and to articulate their talents and abilities.

Worthy winners were ‘The Rogues’, all from fifth year: Callum Simpson on drums, Callum Brand, lead guitar, Calum Farquharson, bass guitar, and Jamie Connelly, vocals.

The group, who were given a standing ovation by the audience, gave a fantastic rendition of ‘A-Punk’ by Vampire Weekend and ‘Can’t Stop’ by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The other bands must also be highly commended; The Cuban Heels, The Dandawrs, Revenance and the staff band all gave exciting and professional performances.
