READERS are being encouraged to support the King’s Theatre’s six-year campaign.
Visitors to the Glasgow theatre are being encouraged to sponsor a seat.
Plans have been underway since 2007 to restore the King’s to its former grandeur.
As part of the restoration they have been working with Historic Scotland, architects Simpson and Brown and building owners Glasgow City Council to make changes that will bring the theatre up to the standard rightly expected by today’s audiences.
Of the fundraising initiative Richard Wingate, Chief Executive of Glasgow Theatres Ltd, part of the Ambassador Theatre Group, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer the people of Glasgow, and beyond, the opportunity to get involved first hand with the restoration of this best-loved theatre.
“Sponsoring a seat at the King’s Theatre will contribute significantly to the assistance of this ambitious programme of restoration set for completion in 2014.”
Seat replacement starts from summer 2009 with an authentic period design.
Each seat will carry an engraved plaque with a unique dedication to the person or event of your choice.
For more information on how to dedicate a seat please contact Susannah George, development manager, on 0141-240 1300.
Alternatively, postal enquires should be sent to King's Theatre, 297 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4JN or email susannahgeorge@theambassadors.com.
